**Matthew James Newman** was the son of [[toni]] and step-son of [[tim]]. An avid gamer, he was shot on February 12th, 2024[(cite:pressconference>[[sb_da_press_conference]])] in a tragic home invasion after defending the Newman residence and died from his injuries 11 days later on February 23, 2024.[(cite:card)]

Heidecker was adamant following the events of [[amatocon]] that [[gamato]] was directly involved in the death of Matt, potentially involving [[joey]]

According to San Bernardino District Attorney [[waymon]], Matt was involved in an extortion ring involving explicit pictures of high school and college students, blackmailing the victims in exchange for Bitcoin. [[neville]], a relative of one of the victims, allegedly visited the Newman household on February 12th, 2024, where he was fired upon by Matt with one of Heidecker's guns. Neville returned fire before fleeing the scene, crossing the border to Mexico. Matt was killed in the altercation. DA Waymon stated that she had no comment on the involvement of the Amato family.
