Death is the end of life, the irreversible cessation of all biological functions that sustain a living organism. The death of a human being can occur in various ways – like homicide, suicide, health issues, old age – and all of this has occurred in the 10+ year lifespan of On Cinema at the Cinema. Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington both have, allegedly, caused deaths, with Tim once having been put to trial over causing the deaths of 20 festival attenders, the Electric Sun 20.1) Tim has lost several members of his extended family over the years, with his son, step-son, and adopted father all having died.

Tom Cruise Heidecker Jr. was the son of Tim and Ayaka Ohwaki, born in late 2014 during season 5 of the show. He passed away just over a year later, between season 7 episode 9 and season 7 episode 10, the latter episode being dedicated to his memory.
Tom had suffered various health issues in his short life, worsened by Tim refusing to allow credentialed doctors to treat Tom, instead relying on Dr. San for holistic alternative health treatments. The exact nature of what killed him was unclear, but Dr. San was claimed to have “tried everything” to rescue him, foraging as many herbs as they could and using magnets to “pull the iron in his blood back into alignment“.
Tom has been revived by Tim as a virtual hologram twice, first in the 4th Oscar Special and again in the 7th Oscar Special.

Tom Chaplin was the founder of Chaplin's Chili, a restaurant chain that has appeared frequently in various forms in the On Cinema Oscar Specials. However, by the time Tom first appeared in the 7th Oscar Special, he had been forced out of the company and started a new catering company, Foodman's Dream Catering, which catered the event / wedding ceremony.
Gregg entered the 7th Oscar Special that night with his Mobile VFA, a car loaded with VHS tapes and movie memorabilia, and left it running all night. This eventually lead to the entire studio to lose consciousness from carbon monoxide poisoning. Everyone in the studio remained unconscious for around 8 minutes, until Axiom arrived and opened some studio doors. Had Axiom arrived later (or not at all), the death count could have been much higher, but Tom was one of two confirmed deaths.
Adam Barnes was a member of the camera crew on the 7th Oscar Special and the other person to die from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the Mobile VFA.
