 **Breaking character** is when the veil lifts, and the absurdity of what's happening causes one of the actors in the show to break out laughing. Usually these occur during an [[oscarspecials|Oscar Special]], as the live format prevents editing and multiple takes from covering these incidents. However, there are some rare cases it occurs outside of a live special.
