Not to be confused with Decker, the action franchise created by Tim Heidecker, or the fictional version of the band that appears in that franchise.
Dekkar is an American rock band founded by Tim Heidecker and Axiom Serradimigni, and currently fronted by Axiom, Manuel Giusti, and Corwin Allard.
History
Tim Heidecker, having previously experimented in songwriting with the song Oscar Fever, written for the 2nd Annual On Cinema Oscar Special, began to take a deeper interest in music after writing and performing Our Values are Under Attack for Decker: Port of Call: Hawaii. Heidecker Heidecker met a man at Guitar Center, Alessandro Serradimigni, who owned a small record label named “Axiom Records” in Italy. Heidecker and Serradimigni, also nicknamed “Axiom,” immediately “clicked” and began working together on a record under the band name “Dekkar.”
During production of On Cinema at the Cinema Season 7, Heidecker released the band's first single, Empty Bottle, with Heidecker on vocals & lead guitar (though he is seen playing bass guitar in the music video and all future performances) and Axiom on backup vocals, rhythm guitar, and drums. Production on the album continued through Season 7. A new website, dekkarmusic.net, was launched for fans to get news on the band and download Empty Bottle as an MP3.
During the 4th Annual On Cinema Oscar Special, Dekkar gave a live performance of several songs, including Empty Bottle and a new song called the Oscar Medley, which included the names of that year's Best Picture nominees in the lyrics. This live performance included two new members for the band, including brianthedrummer, who had previously collaborated with Heidecker during the 3rd Annual On Cinema Oscar Special. Also new to the band was Manuel Giusti, a guitar player and roommate of Axiom. Manuel would become a permanent member of the band from this point onwards. During this performance, Axiom played lead guitar and Heidecker played bass guitar.
By the time of the production of Decker: Unclassified, the band had gained two new members, Vinny on backing guitar and Nick on drums. The band played a fictionalized version of themselves in d4e5, with the character of Jack Decker taking Heidecker's place as lead vocalist and bass guitar. The fictional band was killed on their tour jet in a terrorist attack. A new song, Trigger Everything, was written for the episode.
During production of Season 8 of On Cinema, Heidecker suffered grievous injuries during a fire at the Victorville Film Archives. Unable to play bass guitar due to his injuries, Heidecker put Dekkar on hiatus. A successor band, DKR, was created by Heidecker, Axiom, and Manuel, focused on an EDM sound that Heidecker could perform with a laptop using his injured hand.
After Heidecker received a transplant from Axiom to repair his damaged hand, Dekkar would reunite during the The New On Cinema Oscar Special, where the band played with the thanes to perform Oscar Fever and a cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Dekkar also performed on tour at oncinemalive showings. Vinny and Nick were not a part of the revived Dekkar.
During the production of Season 11, Heidecker was becoming close friends with actor and security consultant Michael Matthews, who Heidecker nicknamed “LaRue.” Heidecker had met LaRue on the set of Decker, and was growing invested in LaRue's theories of the deep state. Heidecker recorded a new version of Empty Bottle with LaRue rapping new vocals, and called this new iteration of the band DEK4R.
