Following the success of their hit movie review podcast, Tim Heidecker and Gregg Turkington begin a new chapter with their web series, On Cinema at the Cinema. The series premiere and first episode of the first season released November 2, 2012 on Thing X.
In the series premiere, host Tim Heidecker and guest Gregg Turkington introduce viewers to the new format, where they review new releases The Man with the Iron Fists and Flight. Gregg also introduces his flagship segment, ”Popcorn Classics”, in which he recommends classic movies in his film library, with the first Popcorn Classic being Multiplicity.
Synopsis
Tim Heidecker welcomes the viewers and introduces the new web series, as well as his guest, film expert Gregg Turkington. The two jump right in, reviewing their first film of the new series, The Man with the Iron Fists. Tim begins to read off the cast and crew, and when Gregg jumps in to mention Lucy Liu, Tim immediately establishes that it is his job to read the cast/crew and synopsis.
The pair review The Man with the Iron Fists. Tim praises the direction, while Gregg notes his pleasure in seeing Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu. For Flight, Tim calls it “phenomenal” and picks it to win Best Picture. Gregg calls it a “departure” for Robert Zemeckis, and warns parents not to bring children to see it due to its scary nature.
Gregg debuts the “Popcorn Classics” segment and designates Multiplicity as the first ever movie to be declared as such. He calls the film “Michael Keaton's finest hour” and encourages viewers to make time to see it over the weekend.
Ratings
The Man with the Iron Fists (2012, 96 mins.)
Tim: 4 bags of popcorn, 1 soda
Gregg: 5 bags of popcorn, 2 sodas
Flight (2012, 138 mins.)
Tim: 5 bags of popcorn, 2 sodas, OSCAR PICK

Trivia
- With the extra bag for John [Great]man, this is one of the very few times that Gregg gives a popcorn rating higher than five bags. He is normally a stickler for the rules, criticizing Tim for his six-bag ratings in later seasons, as well as Joey P. for using the star system in On Cinema On Demand.
