A long-awaited sequel and twisted horror movie get reviewed. Also, Tim introduces a new culinary star.
Synopsis
Tim provides an update on his health. He says his skin is “getting worse” and “falling off,” requiring him to seek donors for a skin graft. He intends to announce the finalists for donorship next week. Gregg announces that the Victorville Film Archives and Victorville Film Center will be closed for the next few days to undergo “renovations,” in this case meaning to take care of a black mold problem. Gregg also says several film studios have contacted him about paying licensing fees for his movie screenings. He expresses frustration with Tim for not communicating with him about this. Tim says he will get someone to look into it, and them plugs an upcoming performance in Madrid with DKR.
Tim calls over Mark Proksch to order some food. Gregg is immediately irritated, telling Tim “nobody wants to see this.” Tim angrily replies that this is a “demonstration” of his proof-of-concept for Six Bag Cinemas. He settles on the kobe sliders with aioli and truffle oil and takes a long, deep vape hit. With that out of the way, it's finally time for the movies.
First up is T2 Trainspotting, a remake of Terminator. Gregg corrects Tim, noting that this is a sequel to Trainspotting (1996, 93 mins). He says the film deals with the horrors of drug addiction, which he knows something about thanks to his On Cinema experience. Both award the film highest marks.
Next up is The Belko Experiment. While reading the synopsis, Tim's food arrives. While he chows down, Gregg gives his review of the film, although Tim interrupts to praise the kobe beef, saying regular beef has historically had detrimental effects on his gastrointestinal tract.
Tim brings out his newly hired chef, John Lenard, for an interview. Tim is full of praise for Lenard's culinary acumen, but Gregg is rather cold towards the newcomer. Tim asks Lenard about his background and the menu items, and details how the two of them met (at a restaurant near the Oklahoma City airport). Lenard says his favorite menu item is the popcorn shrimp. Throughout the interview, Gregg is full of sarcastic remarks.
