Synopsis
Gregg is in the host seat today, with Mark Proksch as his special guest. Gregg reveals the “somber occasion” that prompted this change: Tim Heidecker and Dr. San are currently in jail, after the TCH Vape System they distributed at the Electric Sun Desert Music Festival resulted in the tragic deaths of 18 teenagers. Thus, they are unlikely to return to the show in the near future. Acknowledging the grief of those affected by the tragedy, Gregg says “the best thing to do would be to keep moving, and review some movies.”
Before that happens, however, he and Mark indulge in an extended commiseration session about their mutual loathing of Tim and his cinema concept. Mark complains about his inadequate compensation and working conditions, while Gregg blasts Tim's erratic behavior, drug dependence, and lack of respect for movies. Mark says he sometimes had to stay in the theater overnight due to being worked so hard; Gregg says that Tim would sometimes show up “wasted” from his vapes and take all of Gregg's movie screening proceeds from the cash register. He further reveals that in addition to the 18 teens who lost their lives, 158 other people were injured by Tim's vapes. He also rants about Tim constantly cutting his segments, and uses this to segue into an On Cinema On Location segment. He stands just outside of Paramount Pictures, where Vanilla Sky (2001, 136 mins) was shot.
After this segment, Gregg brings up another very popular segment Tim axed, Golden Age Comedies. He suggests that they do an impromptu segment just to spite Tim. While Mark gets his W.C. Fields garb, Gregg airs another On Cinema On Location segment, at the same location as the one he just aired; this time, the film shot there is The Presidio (1998, 97 mins), starring Sean Connery. This segment goes straight into Golden Age Comedies, in which W.C. Fields presents Nobody's Baby (2001, 112 mins). After the segment, Gregg enthuses that the segment will reoccur frequently, and that the show will feature three movie reviews from now on. With that, he wishes Tim good riddance and sends best wishes to Tim's victims.
